How we verify reviews

Only a guest who really stayed with the host can write a review. Here is exactly how we make sure of that — from the invitation to the rating you see on the listing.

In short

  • Only the guest of a completed booking made through Travelia can write a review, one per booking.
  • We publish positive and critical reviews alike, straight away.
  • The host cannot change or delete a review — they can reply to it publicly once.
  • We offer guests nothing for a review.
  1. Who can write

Only a guest whose booking through Travelia is completed — the stay has taken place. One booking, one review, within 30 days after departure. After departure an invitation comes by e-mail, with one reminder after 7 days.

  2. Where it is written

The form is only on the guest's own booking page, reached through their personal link or by signing in. So a review is always tied to a particular stay; without a booking it cannot be written.

  3. Publishing

We publish a review as soon as it is sent, positive or critical. We do not edit the text. A score from 1 to 10 and a text of at least 20 characters are required.

  4. When we hold a review

Only when it contains a link or contact details (e-mail, phone) — a moderator reads it before it is published. A review can only be rejected or withdrawn with a stated reason, which we send to the author.

  5. Under what name

A review shows the first name and the initial of the surname, the month of the stay and who the guest travelled with. We do not publish the full name or exact dates.

  6. How we work out the rating

A listing's rating is the average of the overall scores of its published reviews. Held and rejected reviews do not count.

  7. The host's reply

The host can reply publicly to a published review once, without links or contact details. They cannot change or hide the review itself.

  8. The “Guests appreciate” summary

A listing with at least 5 reviews may carry a summary prepared by artificial intelligence. It is labelled as such, and every point must be backed by verbatim quotes from at least two reviews.

Does a review break the rules?

Every review carries a “Report this review” link. If you think a review is untrue, offensive or unlawful, report it there — we will look into it and let you know the outcome.
